"Don't Be Duped"
Every lawyer that has actually listened to me has always asked for one thing…a copy of my narrative template. This is a constant that still happens today. Every time I lecture, one of the top questions is, “Can I have a copy of that narrative you just put on the screen?” None get it!
Most of you that have met with lawyers have shared with me that every lawyer wants a copy of the narrative as well. In your quest to get the lawyer to “like you,” many of you will be mailing, e-mailing, faxing and hand-delivering a copy of your narrative template to the lawyer because you think they will like you more and start referring. The opposite is usually the truth.
Let me be perfectly clear on this issue. Don’t be a schmuck! Giving the lawyer an advanced copy of your template is the quickest way to be a “NONE-and-done.” If the lawyer already has your best, then more likely than not he/she will share that template with his/her other doctors and forever bypass you.
When most of you first spoke with me prior to joining the Lawyers PI Program, I shared with you that ours is the finest narrative template in the nation, as it was crafted by over 30,000 of the best personal injury lawyers in the nation. I was serious, and everyone else wants to get their hands on it once they know you “get it.” Politely say, “I will be happy to give you a copy when I report your client to you.” In the meantime, you can show them your copy, in a professionally prepared binder, with the pages either laminated or in protective sheets, as outlined in the consultations. This is your competitive edge; do not give it away or you will lose the advantage over the competition.
