Preamble: Testimonials serve a bigger purpose than doctors tooting their horns or mine. They both give inspiration to those "stuck in their stuff" and also give insight to what works and why. Sometimes it is my words that motivate and teach while other times it may be other's words that motivate.

I went to my friendly neighborhood MRI center, yesterday, and sat down with a neuroradiologist and explained why a patient's large posterolateral left bulge was really a protrusion, and he agreed to have the report amended.  Then, this morning, I sat with the attorney preparing for the deposition and got to teach him the difference between the bulge and herniation and explain that the report will be corrected.  When he asked for my source, I handed him a binder with a 50 page copy of the ASN nomenclature of disc pathology and flipped to their diagrams to explain it, and I told him to keep it for future reference. Then I reviewed the patient's 15 page narrative and then I pointed out there were 7 things I thought he should be aware of related to this case of post concussion syndrome and chronic neck pain and headaches, and I pulled out a binder with the 7 relevant fliers and explained each one to him and how it impacts his case.  Then I handed him my CV and then he just sat there with his mouth hanging open and said, "Thank you...Thank you very very much.  You've given me much more than I ever expected."

Kind of fun stuff.  It's a heck of a lot less intimidating when you actually know with certainty what you are talking about.

A doctor in the program for about 18 months dropped out of the program and sent me the following e-mail....This is perhaps one of the best testimonials I have recieved as a thank you, but no thank you letter...This doctor tried very hard not to do well in the program.

"When I started applying all your wisdom and consults, I started to get too busy to where I'd have to work more, late nights, early mornings, hire an associate, or more staff, but time is just as if not more valuable in my opinion."

BTW, the patient I told you about that had right testicle pain following a side impact MVC, had an MRI that showed a small disc herniation at L2-3 disc on the LEFT side with some mild IVF encroachment.  I sent him to a urologist for a consult and he had an inflamed epididimus.  So early on in my PIP/Lawyers Program career, I have plane crash victims and injured testicles.  You can't make this stuff up.

...It's funny how God works. (If you build it, they will come.)

OK, thanks for your help.

I have another WTF!!!! for you:

A new PI patient was referred to me, last week, by an attorney who has attended your programs.  Accident was 2/4/11 - The patient has been seen by 3 MDs, a PCP, a neuro and a physiatrist, all of whom should know better.

They sent her for cervical and lumbar MRIs which demonstrated minimal findings - much less than I would expect based on her clinical presentation and symptomatology.  I called the MRI center and spoke with the MRI tech who responded they "...have a 0.3 tesla open machine and their protocol in the cervical spine is 4.0mm slice thickness with a 4.5mm gap.  Lumbar spine is 5.0mm slice thickness with a 5.5-6.0mm gap.  We try to get the study done as quickly as possible so the patient isn't on the table that long."

This is the height of greed and medicine at its worst. What's even "worser" is that you have 2 medical specialists guiding this patient that are totally clueless about MRI protocols and ignorant to the greed (bordering on fraud and criminal) that the MRI company is perpetuating. I can only be thankful that I took the MRI courses because if I would have adjusted this patient with these MRI findings, not knowing that more was missed than they found, I would have hurt my patient.

The lawyer that I work with SENT ME the patient because through the lawyer seminars that I sponsored and you put on, which he attended, has positioned me as the expert in the eyes of the lawyer and his "go to" doctor. As a result, this lawyer can now win this case vs. having no evidence of bodily injury to back up his claim and losing. More importantly, I have ordered another MRI and am helping the patient get well, which is my ultimate goal.

Everyone wins through clinical excellence just as you outlined it...Thank you!!!!!!
