Preamble: Many of the issues I bring to you are very small, yet each issue is just that, an issue. If you take care of the small issues, then you will be able to build and more importantly, focus on the bigger issues...a larger practice and more family time. -Mark Studin 2006

“Managing L-Extrusion & Patient Denied Surgery”

“I can because I can” Mark Studin 2020
This patient was referred to a neurosurgeon for a consultation and surgery was recommended. The patient has exquisite pain, and significant motor loss associated with cauda equina compression at the L4-L5 level. The patient opted to forgo surgery and continue chiropractic care. It would be my clinical decision to NOT treat this patient as I would be concerned that delaying necessary surgery would leave this patient to further complications, and it both would not be in the patients best interest and leave me exposed to a lawsuit (in that order).
