Preamble: Many of the issues I bring to you are very small, yet each issue is just that, an issue. If you take care of the small issues, then you will be able to build and more importantly, focus on the bigger issues...a larger practice and more family time. -Mark Studin 2006
"How to use a body shop to certify auto body damages"
Dr Studin: So you sent me something out of the low speed book showing, that there was damage to the bumper and then you had a question as to whether what you need to do to bring that information out to Mazda. so what have you done so far to figure that out?
Guest Dr: I spoke to Patrick Sunday about it, I asked him how do I utilize this information? He said you asked for all the records including the accident report. And he basically told me how you look and you analyze it, and from there you can question I guess opposing counsel as far as where they came up with their numbers and then you could write a rebuttal to it in a sense.
Dr Studin: the question is how do you use the information? This is why we have pet son be the start. He is, to my knowledge, the only low speed expert in the country. Everyone else goes high speed, and just as a side note, Pat has volunteered his time to everyone, which is part of your dues, but he doesn't have the time for that anymore. So, at my request to keep him working with us, he charges $1,000 a year, which includes two reports that he writes. Now have you retained them where he just gave you more of his time?
Guest Dr: I retained him.
Dr Studin: Which is smart because now you also get some market that you have an accident reconstructionist/engineer on retainer for the lawyers to talk with also one of the incredible marketing points. So really the answer is when you do this, you do need an auto body shop that you work with, obviously, who can peel the skin off, who can spend a few minutes and work with you and understand that they're going to get your referrals and it's going to be challenging, you don't want to get a insurance company approved auto body site because they're not going to be able to do those things because carriers won't let them. So you need an independent site to do that, and you really need to find one or two or three and just refer your patients to them. They're not beholden to the insurance companies, and that works, and that's really the best thing to do.
