Preamble: Many of the issues I bring to you are very small, yet each issue is just that, an issue. If you take care of the small issues, then you will be able to build and more importantly, focus on the bigger issues...a larger practice and more family time. -Mark Studin 2006

"How do I find lawyers to market and work with"

Dr. Studin: you asked me about putting lists together to reach out to attorneys, correct?

Guest Dr: That is correct.

Dr. Studin: Okay. it's not uncommon in different areas for the be different pricing for less and three, 400 bucks for a list is actually inexpensive in certain regions. But the thing is you don't want to reach just for personal injury lawyers. And that's a big mistake. And I learned that from my daughter, she is a divorce lawyer and when she first got out of school, her family law practice always took PI cases because they felt it was a quick buck. Now they did crap with them, but I built a whole practice on non PI lawyers because they didn't know what to do and they, they look to me for the answers where the Pi lawyers had all the answers, all the people they work with.

And you know, I was a burden but the non-PI lawyer, I was like their knight in shining armor and it was just really, really good. So, you want to try to get every lawyer in at least a 30 mile radius. And it's not like not like seeking patients. You want a 20-minute drive lawyer's five towns away, you know, we'll have a Pi case, you know, near your office and they'll reach out for you and then you add that to your database. Then you could send by monthly flyers and do all the other fun things with it that you do with it. Now you could either purchase the list, but what I love to do is find the lawyer I'm friendly with WHO's a member of the trial lawyers association. That's all the Pi lawyers or the Bar Association and ask them if they could borrow a copy of their membership of and pay someone to just sit and create databases.

Guest Dr: Okay, thanks.

Dr. Studin: Good. That just works really, really well. Or You could go out to a company and purchase a list. I know like lawyers.com has list all these mailing house companies that have lists and those are things that you could do to get those, and it just works. Now. What else do you need that I didn't cover?

Guest Dr: Okay, you mentioned something about going to the Bar Association meetings where the like the trial lawyer meetings monkey. Yeah, monthly meetings to two separate things. The Bar Association and the trial Lawyers Association is different. All the lawyers who go to court and sue and there is an auto part to that auto or UCL. And then there's a bar association. You're looking for the plaintiffs committee, those that sue versus defense lawyers. Now, many times in those organizations, they allow sponsors to come in and sponsor dinner and they charge you like two, 300 bucks and you go, you know, and by the way, all of these things do not have high yields up front.

What you're doing is you're branding yourself and you're getting name recognition. And if you plan on doing only one and then it doesn't work and you're don't even bother started, this is going to take three, four, five, six, seven, eight meetings until they realize that you're on the inside looking at and you're one of them. It's one of those things, you know, everything's a piece of the puzzle. Everything's a process. Do you follow?

Guest Dr: Gotcha.

Dr. Studin: When I was building my practice, you know, out on long island. I mean I went to the Bar Association meetings for five years in a row, you know, and like for the first year I got nothing. But all of a sudden, they saw me, they saw me and then I was like one of the crew and they started asking me questions and I bring literature and it's, you know, it's the next meeting.

I'm going to bring your handouts on this or I'll stop by your office. Cause they started asking questions when you're the expert. Okay. And it works well now when you go to these meetings.

Guest Dr: Yep. Do you have to sponsor them or can you go? Not as a non sponsor.

Dr. Studin: No, they don't let you in the room. You could join as an affiliate member, but it's expensive but goes to sponsor. Okay. You don't, you know what you get for nothing. Nothing. You got it guys. You get exactly that. So, you know, there, those organizations are no different than our organizations. There were business. You know, and they don't even want you in the room, but they'll let you in the room further their business.

Guest Doctor: Okay. Got It.

Dr. Studin: I mean, it's just a plain, simple economic issue. And it's always, you've heard me say this at least once or twice or a thousand times. It's always about the money. Those are the two primary ones I called you with today. Okay. So, if you have anything else, let me know.

Guest Dr: Will Do, thank you so much. I appreciate it.
