Preamble: many of these issues are small, yet each issue is just that… an issue. If you take care of the small issues, then the larger issues often take care of themselves and you can focus on the larger issues… a larger, more profitable practice and more family time.

"A New Income Stream"

Use your clinical excellence to make more $$$$$$$$$$$$

“Work smarter & harder” Mark Studin 2018

A few months back, I suggested that you contact your “favorite lawyers” and suggest the following: Take whatever case you have and get your best settlement offer, then give me the case and let me work it up as a peer review based upon the records and images. Should I be able to get you a higher settlement offer, then whatever the increase is, you, the client and I each take 1/3 of the increase. If I don’t get anything, then I get $0.00

The lawyer was very excited, however, he explained in New York, fee splitting with a non-lawyer is not legal, and we need to come up with a fixed dollar amount. I chose $2500 as my fee for the report if I prevailed. If fee splitting with the lawyer in your state is legal, I suggest that, otherwise, my solution “isn’t so shabby!”.

I wrote the report inclusive of images, etc. and it took me about 90 minutes of my time. It was a focused report on causality, demonstrative bodily injury, and persistent functional loss for the specific body region. This was about 4 months ago. Yesterday, I met with the lawyer on a different matter, and he asked me to “close my eyes and put my hand out.” Here is what he put in my hand:

Not bad for 90 minutes of easy work. In this case, the radiologist and orthopedist missed an acute Schmorl’s Node with significant Modic 1 changes around the fracture site. The lawyer was originally offered $2500 for the entire case, with my report, he was able to negotiate and get the full policy of $25,000. Now he can work on the uninsured motorist provision in the policy, another $75,000 and he is going to bring me in again, to do the same thing and explain my findings to the claim’s examiner and to testify if necessary (which I doubt they will get that far).  I stand to earn anywhere between $5,000 and $7,500 for an initial 90 minutes and the time for a telephone call and to testify.

The lawyer already told me he has many more cases for me to review. IF…I choose to make this part of my income, I could do this for many lawyers. As a note, I will not go this route because I am committed to you and that takes all of my time, however I could make this my entire business as there is a huge need.

You, however, can do this locally and augment your income to any level you choose. Also, the lawyer “leaned heavily” on my credentials to win and your lawyers will do the same. The Trauma Team credentials matter greatly in this arena and another example of using your credentials to earn a significant income.

Please feel free to share this with your local attorneys who you have a relationship with. This is not suggested with lawyers you are trying to make relationships with. It is not an “ice-breaker!”

Also, once lawyers see the work you do on their challenging cases, I am confident you will start to see most of their cases FIRST!

Respectfully,
