“ER Missed Extrusion”
“I win because I am the best” Mark Studin 2018
I just received this from Mark Lesko in Austin TX… He is a Trauma Team Member and a Fellow Candidate.
This patient was diagnosed as having a muscle strain in the ER. When I evaluated the patient, she had dermatomal and myotomal findings consistent with C4-C5 nerve roots. She reported a prior MRI in 2004, and I was able to obtain report but the images no longer available. The report showed concentric bulge slightly effacing thecal sac. My plain films demonstrated no spondylosis/degeneration. Surgery is pending based upon the significant extrusion in conjunction with clinical deficits.
P.S. Never trust an ER read… do it your self!!!
