Infrastructure 221 I
“Being first matters” Mark Studin 2018
Everyone tries to save $$ wherever you can, and 1 place is on Internet service in your home and office. It is a “blind item” to many and you can cut $20-$30 off your monthly bill by choosing the “cheaper options.”
Those cheaper options are usually the speed of your Internet downloads and uploads and you are a doctor’s office, not an IT center, so why waste the money?
Why? The answer is simple…production and the efficient use of the time for you and your staff! Every time your system buffers (the little circle spinning) or you are waiting for a page to download, or to upload your billing to a 3rd party processor (or anything else) you must pay for someone to sit and stare at a computer (more wasted time). In addition, there are many “resource laden programs” that simply will not open unless you have enough download speed.
Here is a screen shot of my system.
To learn your download and upload speeds, go to www.speedtest.net and test your system (it is free.) You should be at a minimum of 100Mbps. Download and over 50Mbps. Upload (although I would prefer both at 100Mbps.)
In addition, if your computers are over 3 years-old throw them away… You can go online or to Best Buy and for $400, get state of the art computers with software that supports contemporary programs. Almost 50% of doctors that attempt to do an MRI review with me cannot because the software is not supported in their older systems.
These are the type of action steps that builds a stable infrastructure to grow! Do it NOW!!!!!
Hardware Suggestion: A PC Computer, i5 processor or better and 16G of RAM minimum. MAC’s do not support Flash gracefully and it creates issues in business.
