“Defending Your Records in a Law Suit”
After spending the entire day yesterday and part of today doing the forensic analysis and rebuttal to the Bills of Particular in the court case I have been retained to help defend, there are 3 significant pieces that in the end, will have protected the doctor and they are all generated by HIM.
- Compliance Review: the doctor did a compliance review with me and LISTENED. He made all the changes with one minor defect that turned out to be a major defect, but all other areas were well handled.
- Spinal Biomechanical Engineering Course: This course covered him with that major defect as it allowed me to utilize his credentials and knowledge base to protect him and overturn that defect.
- Medical Fees in the United States: This was a central point of the law suit. Where did he get his fees from and was he “abusing the carrier, the patient and the lawyer?” This was the easiest one to neutralize because he used a published standard for his fees.
IF… you wait until the lawsuit or audit comes and THEN try to institute these policies and actions, it is too late and you will pay dearly.
Ther is a reason why I strongly recommend you take all 10 courses as the core minimum. Each serve as either the sword or the shield to either build your practice or protect you. Heed the advice or be prepared to pay sooner or later.
