Preamble: many of these issues are small, yet each issue is just that… an issue. If you take care of the small issues, then the larger issues often take care of themselves and you can focus on the larger issues… a larger, more profitable practice and more family time.

“The New Magic Language”

The Background for SUCCESS

“Are they looking at your ass? If not, you are following” Mark Studin 2017

I have had 2 mentors in my life who have shared with me inspirational messages that eventually turned into a lifetime mission. They said:

  1. You don’t want to be better than the competition, you want to be different
  2. If you want to be successful, look at what everyone else is doing, and do something different

I also learned the concept of helping others and making a strong commitment towards being successful early in life. I grew up in a small suburb in New York and my dad was the local volunteer fire department’s chief along with my uncle. Both my brother and myself became volunteer fireman at the age of 16 as my community was so small, we needed manpower and literally accepted us “kids” to protect our community (something we took very seriously).

Many times, I watched my dad run into burning buildings alone as he was the first responder to save lives, I have fallen through burning rooves and my brother (who is 3 years older than I am) risked his life more than once to save me.

Early in life I learned that you have to take risks to win, but I also learned the concept of training and being prepared and doing so responsibly both to yourself and those who you are helping.  Every Monday for the Orangeburg, NY Volunteer Fire Department was “drill day.” We trained on every piece of equipment, every scenario that could be simulated, on becoming more efficient through repetition and had a significant amount of classwork to understand the concepts behind what we needed to do to protect our community. I can say with a great degree of certainty that if I took my schoolwork as seriously as being a fireman, I probably would have gotten a full scholarship to the Ivy League school of my choice!

The above training, experiences and mentors have helped shaped me both personally and in my career. I realized the commitment I needed to make to win at the level I chose and I also realized that to get there I had be different than the “pack.” I understood that I had to learn from the “smartest and the best” in order to understand the path that I needed to take and somewhere along the way I concluded that order to achieve my ultimate goal, I had to lead.

The “new magic language” is about leading. It is about looking at what everyone else has done and doing something different. It is about making a commitment in life where you will never be “outworked” and through repetition you will be prepared through vigorous study that often requires long days and sleepless nights. That study is the core of your “clinical excellence” and is a lifetime commitment to being the best of the best and keeps you ahead of the “pack.” This is how you are different because most of our profession is either lazy or has blinders on and you are neither.

It is that difference, which will be the core of your success and making this new “magic language” work for you at the highest level because it is based on your clinical excellence. On the website, I have recommended 10 “core courses” that you need to ensure that you are different from the pack. These courses have taken me over a decade to create and I have committed $100,000’s in research and development to bring them to market. We have partnered with academia in both the chiropractic and medical communities to render credentials to further set you apart from the pack. This in part, is my commitment to separate me from the rest of the pack and based upon the feedback from the chiropractic, medical and legal communities I can say with a great degree of certainty, that we are leading through our clinical excellence.

The following courses, which are already posted on the website is what I consider the bare basics to give you a platform to lead in your community:

  1. Triage Trauma Care
  2. MRI Spine Interpretation
  3. Spinal Biomechanical Engineering
  4. Spinal Trauma Pathology
  5. Accident Reconstruction
  6. Impairment Rating
  7. Head Trauma-Brain Injury
  8. Medical-Legal Documentation
  9. Orthopedic Testing
  10. Stroke Anatomy & Evaluation
I have also created educational tracks in:

  1. Hospital Qualification
  2. Primary Spine Care Qualification
  3. MRI Spine Qualification (soon to be released)

Dr. Owens and myself have already created the Fellowship in Spinal Biomechanics and Trauma (FSBT), where we have just accepted our third class. This is a two-year program where significant coursework is involved and then you do clinical rotations through local hospitals and medical specialists in your community to become a Fellow. We have also created a paradigm where you should be getting a significant number of referrals from those local clinical rotations required making this course eventually not revenue neutral, but revenue positive. This is another example of your clinical excellence paying huge financial dividends.

The power of the new “magic language” for the lawyer is what you bring to a medical legal case in documentation, litigation and leverage. That leverage is how the lawyer will use you and the new magic language is designed for you to teach them how to use you so they can realize fair and equitable settlements and verdicts. Lawyers are currently suffering through a downward spiral of “low ball offers” and are desperate to reverse that trend. Your job is to lead them upwards. My job is to teach you how.

Respectfully,
