Preamble: many of these issues are small, yet each issue is just that… an issue. If you take care of the small issues, then the larger issues often take care of themselves and you can focus on the larger issues… a larger, more profitable practice and more family time.

“The Absolute Minimum”

Ranges of Motion with Every Re-Evaluation
“Successful people do the things unsuccessful people do not like to do… Consistently!”   Mark Studin 2017

Every court in the nation accepts ranges of motion as demonstrable evidence for loss of function. This has been established by courts for decades and provided that you have bodily injury that is casually related, this becomes the basics for a lawyer’s argument.

However, without it the lawyer will have a very challenging time prevailing in a case as that is often the base for all other loss of function issues and verifies the joint malfunction. In addition, that is clinically and physiologically consistent with tissue damage at the ligament-tendon-muscle level. It’s called verification.

Therefore, if you are NOT doing ranges of motion, utilizing a 2-piece inclinometer, you are not practicing within a reasonable standard of care as ranges of motions are consistent with every teaching of a musculoskeletal examination in every profession. In addition, you are hurting your patient by preventing their lawyers from doing their jobs. You do not do the test to pander to the lawyers, as explained above because it is a standard musculoskeletal protocol. Screwing the lawyer is just the fallout and can explain to many why they are having referral issues.

Practicing with clinical excellence is the basis for success at every level!
