“Today is Like Every Other Day”
Today is like every other day. I step into life and realize that I will have challenges. Those challenges will test me and make me pause before moving forward. For some, it is dealing with a flawed staff, for others it will be dealing with increasing bills and shrinking income and for others it will be dealing with moral or ethical issues that are weighing heavily on the soul. At times those challenges seem insurmountable and I ponder them sometimes at 2am or 4am and they stay with me at 7am all too often. Strangely enough, by 10am they don’t seem so bad, but I get to pick them up again by choice and ponder often to the obsessive. My challenges wither me like an old oak and I often see myself as the soft object in the sandstorm bending to the wind.
Today is just like every other day, but… I realize that I have more than armor. I have me. I am here today like every other day with the power to change, the power to withstand the storm and the power to understand that I am in control of everything around me. I can mold my staff or change my staff, I can withstand the bills and change directions with income at any time I choose because I am in control. I can forgive myself for any moral or ethical transgression and move forward, not as a new person, but a better person who is living in my image of me and one I am proud of. I am not afraid to learn from anyone… including me.
I can be a person of faith, it can be in god or myself and some say the two are the same and who am I to challenge because I do not judge, not others or myself. I am committed to being the best me I can. If it takes changes, I not only welcome them, I look for them.
Today is like every other day and I am going to make a difference in me, my relationships, my patients, my community and my life … Because I am me and I am…
Today is like every other day.
