"Listen to Your Mother and Clean Your Room"
I spoke to a doctor, this morning, who explained to me that one of the limiting factors for bringing lawyers into his office is that it is a mess. He felt that he would be embarrassed to have a lawyer come into his office in its current physical state.
All I can say is, "You have to be freaking kidding me!!!" Don't you think that your current patients are saying the same thing? Don't you think that the patients are telling their lawyers the condition of your office? Don't you realize that is a huge contributor to the LACK of success in your office and life?
This is 2012 and competing doctors are getting smart. They are refurbishing bathrooms, waiting areas, treatment rooms and entire suites. Patients want to be in nice offices. On top of that, what does it say to the sterility of the facility. Are the patients putting their heads into tables that are full of contagions? Are your bathrooms sanitary? These things are going through the patients' minds and will be a reason for THEM TO LEAVE YOUR PRACTICE! In fact, when I had my office, I spent extra money for the soft toilet paper and better feminine hygiene products for the bathroom. It's those little things that count and you never get to directly see the negative effects other than lower patient volume over time.
Today, I would spend another $30-$40 per month and put amenities in the bathrooms just like hotels do. Again, those little things that make a big difference. This is a simple, non-negotiable rule of success. (Yes, there are rules of both success and failure). YOUR OFFICE HAS TO BE IMPECCIBLY ORGANIZED AND CLEAN. ALL OF IT!
There are many things out of your control for not attaining the level of success you desire, but this is not one of them because it is in your full control. Listen to your mother and clean your room!!!
