Preamble: Many of the issues I bring to you are very small, yet each issue is just that, an issue. If you take care of the small issues, then you will be able to build and more importantly, focus on the bigger issues...a larger practice and more family time.

Every time I testify, both the plaintiff and defense lawyers always ask if I am a member of any organizations. In the beginning, when I was a novice at testifying, I thought, "Who cares?" I couldn't have been more wrong, as everyone cares! Through the years, I have asked many lawyers the question of why.
The answer is succinct and clear. There are 2 reasons. The first is that membership in a healthcare organization infers that you have some level of activity in that organization. Most organizations bring a level of professional education, keeping the doctor on the cutting edge of new advancements as well as giving him/her exposure to masters in the field which again furthers his/her education. As a result of my memberships in my 2 state organizations and the 2 national organizations (stupid at every level to have 2 of each, but that is another conversation) I have been exposed to doctors of every philosophy, ability, capability and levels of clinical excellence. Simply put, it has made me a better chiropractor.
In reviewing many of your CV's, I have discovered lots of you are members of various organizations, while others are members of very little or nothing. I urge you to join at least 1 state and 1 national organization and the American Academy of Medial Legal Professionals (, falling into the latter category, is an organization centered on research. That is the minimum recommendation.
Memberships matter greatly to everyone, especially the
